Refund policy
Last updated 24 September 2026
- Cit.ED Plus is US$14.99 a month. The feed itself is free, so you can see what the app is before you pay anything.
- Apple and Google take the payment, not us — so refunds go through them, and they decide.
- Cancel any time. You keep Plus until the end of the month you have already paid for.
- Cancelling is not the same as a refund: it stops the next payment, it doesn’t return the last one.
- If something went wrong on our side, tell us — we will help you with the claim and, where we can, put it right.
1. What you are paying for
The core of Cit.ED is free and always will be: the feed, content-type and evidence-strength labels, profiles, discover and search. You can use the app properly without paying.
Cit.ED Plus (US$14.99 per month) adds Evidence Cards, full source pages, the AI reading tools (Research Translator and Ask the research) and the ability to comment. It renews automatically each month until you cancel. Prices in your local currency are set by the app store and may include local taxes, so the amount you see may differ from US$14.99.
2. Who takes your money
This matters, because it decides who can refund you.
Cit.ED Plus is sold as an in-app purchase. Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) processes the payment, holds the billing relationship and issues any refund. We never see or hold your card details, and we cannot reverse a charge on your card ourselves.
This is not us passing you around: it is how in-app subscriptions work on both platforms. What we can do is cancel or restore access on our side, support your claim to the store, and fix whatever went wrong.
3. Cancelling
Cancel whenever you like — there is no minimum term and no cancellation fee.
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Cit.ED → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Cit.ED → Cancel.
- You can also open Cit.ED Plus in your profile menu in the app, which shows when your current period ends.
When you cancel, you keep Plus until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it does not renew after that. Cancelling does not refund the payment you have already made — to ask for that, see the next section.
Deleting your Cit.ED account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in your store settings first, or you will keep being billed.
4. Asking for a refund
If you bought on an iPhone or iPad
Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, choose the Cit.ED purchase and select “Request a refund”. Apple reviews it and decides. You can also ask through Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Purchase History.
If you bought on Android
Go to play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions or use the Play Store app, find Cit.ED and request a refund. Google generally handles requests within 48 hours of purchase directly; after that it may refer you to us, in which case see below.
Either way, tell us too
Email support@cit.education with the store you bought on and roughly when. We will look into what happened, and where the store asks us to confirm, we will back a fair request. Please do not send us your card number — we do not need it and should not have it.
5. When we will back your request
We will support a refund request, and say so to the store, where:
- You were charged after cancelling, or charged twice for the same period.
- Plus did not work — you paid and the Evidence Cards, source pages, AI tools or commenting did not unlock, and we could not fix it promptly.
- An outage meant Plus was substantially unusable for a significant part of the month.
- You were billed for a price change you had not been told about.
- Someone else used your account or device to buy it without your permission — including a child. Tell us and we will help.
- You bought it by mistake and have barely used it. Ask promptly and we will not argue the point.
We are unlikely to support a request where the subscription was used substantially through the period and worked as described, or where an account was suspended for breaking the terms. Even then, the store makes the final decision and your statutory rights still apply.
6. Your statutory rights
Nothing here removes rights the law gives you. In particular:
- Australia: under the Australian Consumer Law you are entitled to a remedy if a service is not supplied with due care and skill or is not fit for purpose — a failure we cannot fix promptly may entitle you to a refund.
- UK and EU: you generally have 14 days to withdraw from a digital subscription, though that right may end once you have started using the service and agreed to immediate access. Consumer protection law also gives you rights if the service is not as described.
- South Africa: the Consumer Protection Act gives you rights in relation to services that are not of a reasonable quality.
If you believe you have a statutory right to a refund and the store has declined, write to us at support@cit.education and we will deal with it directly.
7. Refunds and creator earnings
We think you should know what a refund does downstream, because Cit.ED pays creators out of subscription revenue.
Each month, a defined share of net subscription revenue forms a pool, divided between creators according to which Evidence Cards subscribers actually opened. A refunded subscription is removed from the revenue that funds the pool. If the refund is processed before that month is closed, the pool is simply calculated without it. If it comes afterwards, the adjustment is carried into a later month rather than reclaimed from creators who have already been paid.
In other words: asking for a refund you are entitled to will not take money out of a creator’s pocket retrospectively.
8. Price changes and contact
If we change the price of Cit.ED Plus, or what it includes, we will tell you before it affects a renewal, and you will have the chance to cancel first. Apple and Google also require your consent to certain price increases before they can charge you.
